My name is Marcus Fields.
I am a maker and educator living in East Lansing, Michigan. I am interested in conversations at the intersection of art, media, technology, and social justice.
I'm a Designer and maker.
I experiment in a range of artistic expression, including theatre, video production, animation, photography, graphic design, printmaking, and bookmaking among others. My interest lies in finding intersections between these various mediums and allowing them to inform one another.
I work in creative makerspaces.
I currently work as Assistant Director of Arts and Media Learning at Michigan State University's (MSU) Residential College in the Arts and Humanities (#RCAH), a program geared towards preparing students in arts, humanities, and social justice for the public good. I help run three of our college’s technology-rich, student-centered, art-making spaces: a media lab, an art studio, and a theater. I maintain the specialty software, equipment and supplies that RCAH students, faculty, and community partners use for artistic production. I devise workshops and tutorials to help folks integrate these resources into both classroom contexts and their daily life.
I'm passionate about technology and education.
In December 2022, I graduated from MSU with a Master of Arts in Educational Technology (#MAET). This program focuses on developing transformational educational leaders who promote equity through creative uses of technology in educational environments.
